Calcio - Soccer

This past Sunday night I got to go to my first soccer game, AS Roma vs. Juventus. We left Orvieto at 5:45pm, to meet up with two of his friends in Orte and take one car to Roma. But with traffic and a crazy parking situation we missed the beginning of the game at 8:45pm. There seems to be no real rules about parking at things like this, cars were on the sidewalks, making medians in the middle of the street, parking 2 and 3 cars deep so if you wanted to leave you couldn't.

Davids friends root for AS Roma, and Davids team is Juventus. The fans of these teams are big rivals. They had separate sections of the stadium seating for Juventus fans, with a separate exit, and at the end of the game they were told they had to wait to leave until AS Roma fans have cleared out. We were not in this section, so David and I had to pretend to root for AS Roma. The game was a lot of fun!!! Italians are very passionate about soccer, and their teams. Juventus won, 2 to 0, so David and I were very happy, but many people of course were not. When Juventus scored, their fans were setting off fireworks in the stadium.I have a video of this, and you can see me jump when they went off.

An interesting side note. AS Roma was just bought by an American from Boston (Tom DiBenedetto) and his partners. My father Paul and brother Tom know Tom DiBenedetto very well. We were looking for him, but didn't have any sightings.
