A Wonderful Wedding!

Andrea's sister Melissa and fiancée Dave arrived on Wednesday April 27. They came for a vacation and to get married. They were basically eloping, only a few people knew about it, including their parents. Andrea set up everything with a little help from Fabio, David and me. The day started with the boys getting a professional shaves at the barber, while the girls went to the hair dresser. It was a little difficult with Andrea and I still learning Italian, but it ended up working out just fine.

Fabio's father, who used to be the Mayor of Orvieto was the officiant of the wedding. The ceremony was at Fabio's country house, about 10 minutes away from here. It was raining a little, so the ceremony was on the terrace of their winery instead of amoung the olive trees and grape vines. This didn't really matter because the scenery is beautiful all over the property. The Italian's have a saying sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata, which means wet bride, lucky bride. Melissa looked beautiful!!! of course, and Dave was very handsome! It was very romantic and intimate. There were 9 of us present, and we were all very lucky to be witnesses to such a special moment in Melissa and Dave's lives! After the ceremony we went to La Chiusetta (where Andrea and I stayed the first time we came to Orvieto 4 years ago) for an amazing dinner reception. La Chiusetta is a beautiful farm house/villa on a hill about 10 minutes away from Orvieto. The dinner was amazing! Way too much food, but so delicious. Melissa and Dave had a mini-moon after the wedding. They spent two nights at La Chiusetta, which was their present from Andrea, Fabio, David and me.

I attached an assortment of photos that David, Andrea and I took. Luckily they also had a professional photographer to capture the whole amazing event.
