Continuing with my mom's visit: Tuesday we got up early and took the train into Rome. We had a 4 hour private tour guide for the Vatican. This was a great experience! You can walk around by yourself, but with a guide you really got to learn so much more about the art, architecture and history of the Vatican. We were exhausted by the end, but had so much fun!

Wednesday my mom and I had a cooking lesson with Chef Lorenzo of Ristorante Zeppelin, in Orvieto. We started at 9am with coffee and pastries while deciding the lunch menu. We made focaccia, ciabatta, pizza, tagliolini with white ragu, eggplant and zucchini parmigiana and gelato with pine nuts. We learned a lot and got to enjoy our hard work by eating it for lunch (and taking home the leftovers). It was all delicious!!! Next time I go to Boston we have to try some of these recipes again!

Thursday we went to the Marmore waterfalls in Terni, less then an hour from Orvieto. This is the tallest waterfall in Europe and is turned on and off several times a day. They use the waterfalls for supplying power to the surrounding towns. There were paths all around it so you could walk up to different levels. It was beautiful and refreshing on a hot July day.
