Mom's visit, Part 1

My mom came to visit us for two weeks in July. It was packed full of fun trips and great meals! I have to split everything into a few different blogs posts, since we were so busy.

She arrived on a Thursday morning. That day we unpacked her bags, relaxed and had dinner at David's parents house. Friday was shopping in Orvieto. Since David had a private concert that night, we had a girls dinner at Ristorante Zeppelin with Bonnie and Andrea. Saturday we went to the market in the morning to buy veggies and fruit for the dinner we were making on Monday night for David's family. Then it was off to Claudio and Silvia's wedding in the evening. The wedding was great, and the food was outstanding and never ending.

Sunday we took a half day trip to Tuscania. Tuscania is in Lazio, about an hour drive from Orvieto. Like Orvieto it was originally an Etruscan town. It is a beautiful and quiet town, with a large Romanesque (San Pietro) church. Outside of San Pietro there are Etruscan tombs and other ruins. It was the perfect small town to walk around for a few hours and work off the wedding dinner from the night before.

On Monday My mom and I bought fish in the morning, and spent the day cooking and preparing for the feast we planned for David's family. Unfortunately we were so busy cooking and then eating, we didn't take any pictures of the dinner. We made cod with a dill yogurt sauce, pickled cucumbers, tabouleh salad, and strawberry short cake for dessert. There were almost no leftovers, I call that a success!
