Alberobello (pretty tree), is a small town we stopped in for a few hours after Ostuni. We stopped not because of any pretty tree, but for the Trulli. Trulli are unique, round stone houses with stacked stone cone shaped roofs. This design is supposed to keep the perfect temperature inside all year round. Most of the Trulli in Alberobello are now tourist shops, but on the drive from Ostuni there were many Trulli that have been restored and are lived in. The Trulli are small, mostly all connected through the town. They are not even that old, most were built in the 19th century. Walking the streets of Alberobello is a surreal experience! It feels like being in a Disney film or the Smurf village.
